South African men have become true fashionistas and I am certainly not complaining, with myself being one of the best styled/dressed people I know out there. I have managed to grow my personal brand through social media, it has worked wonders for me and many other stylish people out there.
I have had the opportunity to work with Shaun hosting one of my event call
#TheBadBitchExperience
One of my favourite stylish digital influencers has to be the incomparable Shaun Andile Naki better known as Shaun Stylist (pictured below). I am truly inspired and obsessed with his sense of style and his ability to stay consistent with it, he is always well dressed and is always able to grab your attention with his amazing confidence which he defines as his alter ego. So I had the opportunity to ask him a few questions and he gladly answered. This is just a simple Q and A with @ShaunStylist, be sure to keep up with him on Instagram!
Having been around him a couple of occasions I've realised that his style matches his personality and very humble nature, I hope this read actually someone out there and motivates you to use the internet for your own gain as Shaun has.
Q : So your social media name is @shaunStylist, which already has a major following and it is extremely recognizable. How did you come up with the name?
A : Shaun is my birth name I've used this name rather than Andile which is my second name, I feel like Shaun and Andile are two different people hence I'm more connected to Shaun who is more outspoken, loud and a hustler. The name Shaunstylist came about due to a lot of people always asking how and where I would get my unique styles of clothing and styling, so I then saw an opportunity to become brand by combining the two. So its basically just Shaun who is a Stylist.
Q : What has the journey of being seen as a Fashion icon in SA been like?
A : It is extremely humbling to have seen it grow in such a short space of time, and not to sound arrogant but I believe that its just the beginning stages of the brand as I have more to offer as Shaun Stylist to the public. Being regarded as a Fashion icon simply alerts me that there is pressure now more than before to work harder and stay on point as there are people looking up to me.
Q : How did you manage to grow name? Who was instrumental in the growth and how did you attract such a huge following?
A : I have been true to myself and to my brand from the very beginning which my main philosophy is to always DRESS to IMPACT and not to IMPRESS. So by saying that I've never moved from the intention of my business. I can never really say that any specific person was instrumental in my growth I believe that it was a collective effort through the people that have supported me from the beginning. By use reposts and so forth.
Q : How do you remain Consistent?
Consistency is fundamental and is a reflection to the public that you are content with your goals and motives. I stay in my lane and always keep moving ahead with blinders because I don't want to be influenced by anything and I don't want to stray away from my authenticity.
Q : How much of your Clothing is sponsored. Or are all these pieces from your own personal purchases? Do you currently have endorsement deals?
A : Like I said earlier my career is still on the rise but I currently have a few deals in place that assist me in my day to day looks. I have JonathanD, Simoni Exclusive, DeJavu and a black owned and produced energy drink called MoFaya just to name a few.
Q : With all the negativity and hate in the internet, how do you manage to stay above it all?
A : Number one, I am a firm believer in the word of GOD and his principles in Life. Speak life into the things you want to materialize ( The Law Of Attraction) So Shaun Stylist is not formed by just hard work its also the word of GOD.
Q : Besides being passionate about fashion and style. What made you believe that it would work in your favour? Cause now you are featured on the latest season of 10 over 10 on VUZU Tv. Being Shaun Stylist has given you tons of opportunities.
A : Yeah I am featured on the latest season of 10 over 10 which is a great platform for me to learn. And it has awarded me the opportunity to work within the political platform, getting to work with other very influential and powerful people is a blessing.
Q : What are some of your future plans in regards to Fashion?
A : I am working on starting a Fashion Legacy Seminar, where ill be imparting my skills and educational programmes on how to conduct yourself as a brand and living up to your full potential as a human being. I believe that sharing is powerful in the sense that youll never lack if you share rather that to be selfish and stagnant.
Q : And of course I have to ask you this, what are your must have items in terms of mens fashion. What does every man need in his Closet?
A : A crisp white shirt and it has to be fitted, a mesculine cologne. Collection of time pieces and obviously a well tailored suit.
Q : And of course I have to touch on relationships and how you love your woman to be. What types of styles do you love seeing on women? Tying to my Feminist movement called BBGM, I know that you are currently in relationship with a very independent girl, who I adore. What advice would you give to women in regards to love and relationships?
A : I love Classy with modern trends touched into the looks for their beauty is just a plus, I feel like at least 3 times in a week they need to look extremely classy.
NOTE: All women are beautiful and they need to believe that before being tol by a man.
In terms of relationships, you need to always know your motives of being In a relationship so that its clear for you to carry them out without failure.
Q : Any words of Motivation to some people out aspiring to be like you?
You just need to understand your calling for excellence is within your own reach
and remember DRESS to IMPACT and never to IMPRESS.
